I have always loved sport and fitness since being a young child, doing swimming, gymnastics and trampolining, as kids do. I got my first set of dumbbells for my 13th birthday (apparently I asked for them) but I got into weights and using a gym more seriously after escaping from what can only be called a ‘toxic’ relationship in my early 20’s. I used strength training to rebuild both my physical and mental strength.
I worked in IT but decided to qualify as a Personal Trainer as it was something I enjoyed and a much better career choice for me and gained these qualifications at Basingstoke Central Gym:
Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
Premier IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing
Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Instructing Circuit Sessions
NASM Certificate in Women’s Fitness Specialist (Online course)
NASM Pre & Post Natal (Online course)
NASM Group Personal Trainer (Online course)
NASM Pre & Post natal

After having two children, my body did suffer and in 2018 I had to take 4 months off from hard exercise. My physio told me that I was in great shape but had weak foundations (i.e: Tranverse Abdominals) and a weak pelvic floor. Most women, myself included, do not understand how important the pelvic floor and inner core muscles are. If they are weak, it will affect your exercise capabilities and life generally. This is why I designed the Repair class after realising how many women avoid exercise because of pelvic floor and core issues. But all my classes will include core work as it is so important for physical health.
The Saturday morning circuit class which is 50/50 men and women has been running for over 5 years and I have a couple of Personal Training clients. But now my youngest of 2 children has just started school, I am able to add more classes in the week. So I will be adding a Boot Camp class soon and others dependent on what people ask for. I run the majority of the classes in my own garden which has many benefits. I can keep class prices lower, the garden is not over looked so for unconfident exercisers this is a great bonus, and I can use a bigger range of equipment.
Goals:
On a professional level, I want to build up a business that is respected and really helps people in the local area, especially mums, get back into exercise and work towards their own goals. I want everyone to feel that they have a safe place where they can exercise without being judged.
On a personal level, I want to increase muscle mass and look and be stronger. A key motivator is to stay fit as I age to enable me to be active with my kids. So watch this space…..I can and I will!
